2nd Year Hon. Mention: A Punk’s Guide to Positivity
WRIT 2004, Writing in Digital Cultures. CD: Andrea McKenzie.
Abstract
Positivity is probably the last thing most of us associate with the word “punk”. But with this blog proposal and site, the author demonstrates how optimism as a form of rebellion is indeed a radical one for most readers. The author shows how a focus on “in the moment” learning opportunities can transform stressful situations into activist events. Using concepts from philosophy and psychology as springboards for personal reflections on the challenges of “fitting in,” the blog aims to transform its stated audience of a “multiverse of misfits and skeptics” into a strong, supportive community, where agency and mental health are championed, and everyone deserves “not to be alone.”
