Abstract

In this strongly developed literary analysis, the author provides insight into the techniques Jamaica Kincaid uses in A Small Place to expose the neocolonial heritage and influence in Antigua. Readers were particularly impressed with the author’s close attention to literary structures, word choice, and the form of Kincaid’s writing. Toggling back and forth between details of the text and larger questions about neocolonialism, the paper impressively offers a clear, well structured, and well evidenced argument.
