SOSC 3745, Urban Governance, Politics and Policy. CD: Jeffrey Squire.
Abstract
In this perceptive case study analysis of the City of Toronto’s “Homelessness and People Living in Poverty” policy, the author cogently clarifies the policy, forcefully describes its detrimental effects on Toronto’s homeless, and concludes with insightful recommendations and possible solutions. The clear organization and absorbing writing make it a compelling paper to read, while the extensive research, which is so thoughtfully integrated into the text, make the paper especially meaningful. In this way the author carefully and cogently lays out the reality of the situation and then the inevitable results for the marginalized in general thus carrying the reader inexorably along to the same conclusion. In the end this is a very persuasive and well-argued paper which is most deserving of being granted honourable mention for the Faculty’s third-year writing awards.
