Abstract
The instructor’s assignment prompt asked students to write “an analytical, not descriptive” essay comparing a book and a film. The essay needed to have a clear thesis. The author of “Family: Blood-Bound and Non, a Shoplifters and Out Comparison” succeeded in meeting the criteria and then some: the essay articulates and defends a persuasive argument; the writing is clear and effective at the sentence level; and the overall comparison is balanced and well supported. This essay showcases the student’s ability to analyze texts and write a well-structured comparative analysis.
